If you are thinking about selling your vehicle, you want to get as many offers as possible and have those offers be good ones. A few simple fixes to your vehicle can drastically improve its quality, and make it more appealing to prospective buyers. Here are some tips for getting your vehicle ready to sell.

If the windshield is cracked and paint chipped, for example, they might think the car hasn’t been well cared for.

Start by fixing any major issues like a cracked windshield or dented side panelling, and then move onto smaller visible issue such as worn-out tires, and cracked headlight covers.

Touching up a small scratch on your car with a little bottle of touch-up paint is pretty easy. Before you start the job, mask the surrounding area well and use even, sweeping strokes to apply the paint. (Follow the directions on the can carefully.)

The techniques used to paint the body of a vehicle can vary depending on the size of the area you’re working on and the original paint and finish. Unless you have an experienced and steady hand (and the car’s original paint hasn’t faded or changed colour since it was new), it’s almost impossible to conceal the fact that you repainted anything larger than a small area

Whoever buys your vehicle wants to make sure it performs well. If the acceleration is jumpy, the braking isn’t smooth. or the handling is out of whack, the buyer may look elsewhere or offer a lower price.

Make sure you have new or close to new brake pads on, replace any spark plugs that are giving you issues, and get a wheel alignment if the handling is off.

A savvy buyer is going to look under the hood. If it looks like a war-zone under there, they aren’t going to be too keen on buying.

Replace any cracked hoses or exposed wiring. If the air filter is dirty, replace it with a new one. It’s a good idea to have your fluids (oil, transmission fluid, washer fluid, coolant) at a good status as well.
