Superior Auto Body Saskatoon has been in business since 1961, and we have been an SGI ELITE Autobody shop and have been SGI accredited since 1982. There are many reasons we have so many loyal long standing clients from all over the city, but mostly it is the small, personal touches that we offer to people who have been unfortunate enough to require our services. We offer newer model courtesy cars and vans for our clients.. and to help out we will also pick up your vehicle and take it to your SGI appointment for you and deliver the courtesy car to you at home. In our latest article, we discuss 5 fall driving tips to be aware of as the season changes.
Fall Driving Tips from Superior Auto Body Saskatoon
Fall is a beautiful time of the year with the changing of colours and the nice crisp feel of change in the air. However, with the change of seasons comes new challenges on the road to be aware of. Superior Auto Body is here to assist you with fall driving tips this season.
Fall Driving Tip #1: Sun Glare
The sun feels so nice when it is shining, but it sure makes driving difficult when it casts a glare on your vehicle’s windshield after sunrise and before sunset. Aside from having a good pair of sunglasses, make sure your windshield is clean on the inside and outside. Give your windshield a good wash every time you fill up with gas, and with a clean cloth wipe the inside as well to ensure you have no distractions contributing to the glare.
A reminder to not look directly into the sunlight when you are driving as this causes an added temporary impairment to your vision.
Tip #2: Watch for Pedestrians and Wildlife
Before the weather gets unbearably cold, people are still out for strolls in the evenings or early mornings. When you are driving you can’t always see pedestrians as they may not be wearing reflective or bright clothing to make them more visible. Keep in mind this information on your next drive, especially when approaching pedestrian crosswalks.
Be cautious when you are driving at dusk as it’s much harder to see wildlife on the side of the road. If you are driving on a road where there may be more wildlife, keep an eye out as deer tend to make unexpected appearances to say hello to your front bumper. When accidents happen, your local trusted experts at Superior Auto Body are here for all your vehicle repair needs.
Fall Driving Tip #3: Leaves
Leaves are starting to fall off the trees and beginning to scatter your yard and the road. With that, piles of leaves can start accumulating near the street curb which causes motorists to park farther away from the curb. The leaves pile up in front of drainage systems on the road as well, so if you are noticing an accumulation of water by the curb after a rainfall, there may be leaves clogging the drain.
Tip #4: Fog and Frost
Morning frost warnings are typically in effect in the fall and along with foggy mornings this can reduce your vision as well as your distance perception when driving. This is your reminder to put on your fog lights on those early morning drives, as well as manually put your head lights on as the automatic setting may not show if it’s not dark enough.
Also note that if you are driving on any of the bridges in Saskatoon that morning frost can leave icy patches on bridges and overpasses. Slow down when driving on any bridge or overpass as an extra precaution.
Tip #5: Tire Pressure
Tires tend to lose air when the temperature drops. Be mindful to check the tire pressure in your vehicle before your next trip to keep you driving safely.
Check your tire pressure with a good handheld gauge from any auto parts store. If you have issues with your tires, come see the trained professionals at Superior Auto Body in Saskatoon.
