Myths About Repairing Your Vehicle Debunked by Superior Auto Body
Superior Auto Body Saskatoon has been in business since 1961, and we have been an SGI ELITE Autobody shop and have been SGI accredited since 1982. There are many reasons we have so many loyal longstanding clients from all over the city, but mostly it is the small, personal touches that we offer to people who have been unfortunate enough to require our services. We offer newer model courtesy cars and vans for our clients..and to help out we will also pick up your vehicle and take it to your SGI appointment for you and deliver the courtesy car to you at home. In our latest accident prevention tips, we debunk myths about repairing your vehicle and surrounding vehicle collisions.
Dealing with the aftermath of a vehicle accident can be a very stressful and expensive experience. After worrying about an injury that a collision may have caused, your next focus is the damage your vehicle has suffered and how you can restore it to its former glory.
However, due to numerous myths surrounding collision repairs, people end up shelling out more money on their vehicle’s repairs than they should.
To ensure you don’t fall prey to any misinformation, we’ve debunked two pervading myths that will help you make an informed decision about how to go about repairing your vehicle.
Myth #1: “The colour won’t match!”
We hear the following sentence all the time, “I have had paintwork on my car before, and the colour didn’t match my original finish.” Our collision shop in Saskatoon did not invent this technique of matching your colour after a collision, but we take this to the highest level of colour matching precision. We know that collisions happen whether it’s on a beautiful summer day or a snowy Saskatchewan winter storm caused it. Whenever we are confronted with a colour match issue, we ensure a perfect match every time by always blending the paint into all the adjacent panels.
For example, if the rear door is damaged and requires paint, we do not only paint the rear door. We blend the colour onto the front door as well as the rear quarter panel. Next, we apply a clear coat over all three panels to ensure colour consistency. This technique is known as ‘colour blending’ and when done properly, it leaves your vehicle looking brand new. You’d think you were leaving the dealership instead of our collision shop.
Myth #2: “My insurance rates will go up if I make a collision claim.”
At Superior Auto Body we can’t speak about each individual situation as there are many factors involved when it comes to each drivers’ insurance rates and their individual collision claim. Factors involved include the severity of the incident, your driving history, your policy’s details, etc.
Generally speaking, if you have been claim-free with SGI for over five to six years and have no driving infractions (speeding or other tickets), you may be a great candidate for a no increase due to an ‘at fault’ claim. If you are not at fault in any way in a collision, your rate would certainly not increase. However, these occurrences should be less than once a year.
